What is contents insurance?

It’s quite simply, the things you would take, if you were to move home. For example furniture, electricals, clothes, money etc (This is very popular product in the UAE for Renters)

Contents insurance should cover your homely possessions against:

  • Fire damage
  • Theft or attempted theft
  • Explosion
  • Lightening or Earthquake
  • Water leakage, storm or flood damage

How much contents insurance do I need?

The best way to start is to go through each room and take an inventory. All your possessions will probably add up to more than you think.

Don’t forget about, engagement rings, attic storage and garden furniture.

If you want to be extra vigilant, take photos and keep receipts in a separate place ie workplace or friends. If certain items are of high value it may be worth informing the insurance company of these.

What is Home or Building Insurance?

It covers the bricks and mortar your nearest and dearest call home. If your building requires repairs or even rebuilding, off the back of an accident and you have the adequate insurance, it should be covered.
